HOW CAN I REQUEST A STUDENT CARD?

Your mentor will go with you to an office in the city centre, where you can request your student card. There, you will have to take the following steps:

- show your passport and a student status certificate and provide your personal details

- at a point of the application process, a photo will be made of you

- at the end, you will get a document with a so-called 'NEK-number' on the top right corner of it.

The next step is to upload this 'NEK-number' to the Neptun-system.

After uploading it, visit the Students' Centre in building A/4, room 20 with your mentor student, where a temporary student card (in fact, a sheet of paper, which is valid for 60 days) will be issued.

By the time this paper expires, you can request a new one at the same place.

You will be informed by the Students' Centre in an e-mail, when your student card is ready, then you will have to go back once again.

Upon reception of your student card, you should ask for a sticker on it, which makes the student card valid for the actual semester. You will have to ask for a new sticker in each semester - and without a validation sticker, the student card is not valid.

 

CAN I HAVE A STUDENT CARD / TEMPORARY STUDENT CARD RIGHT AFTER MY ARRIVAL?

According to the regulations in connection with the student card requesting procedure, the answer is no: from the very first day of your stay in Hungary, you cannot own a student card. You have to undergo the previously explained process.

 

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY STUDENT CARD IS LOST?

Prepare the document with the so-called 'NEK-number' on the top right corner of it - this is the same document you received when you applied for the student card for the first time.

The next step is to upload the same 'NEK-number' to the Neptun-system again and choose the option 'lost student card' (or something similar, referring to what happened to your previous student card).

After uploading it, visit the Students' Centre in building A/1, room 20 with your mentor student, where a temporary student card  will be issued for you once again.

CAN I USE MY STUDENT CARD ABROAD?

No, the Hungarian student card works only in Hungary. But you can request an international student card, too.

International student cards can be applied for at the Students’ Office of the University of Miskolc (Building A/1, 7.). Required documents:

  2. 2340 HUF cash
  3. 1 ID photo
