WHAT IS THE TAX ID AND WHY DO I NEED IT?

A tax ID is a number which the university needs to be able to transfer your scholarship to your bank account. Without this number, you cannot get money from the university, so the reception of the tax ID is urgent, to facilitate the transfer of your allowances. Applying for the tax ID is only possible after your arrival, since it requires your signature and the copy of your passport, residence permit and accommodation reporting sheet. Of course, having a tax ID number does not mean you will have to pay taxes in Hungary.

HOW CAN I APPLY FOR A TAX ID?

The process is very simple for you, the International Relations Office arranges most of the application procedure:

- let us scan your passport, residence permit and accommodation reporting sheet

- sign the application form at IRO (you will be notified via e-mail when you can come to sign it)

- wait and after the reception of the postal mail containing your tax ID number (you can expect this within 2 weeks from the day of signing the application form), send the number to the relevant officer of the IRO - you can even take a photo of it or visit our office to show the paper itself.

After providing IRO with your tax ID number, it will appear on the Neptun and the transfer of your scholarship can be started (but please note, that it also takes time for the money to arrive on your bank account.)
