WHAT KIND OF SERVICES CAN I EXPECT IN THE STUDENT DORMITORY AND CAN I CHOOSE MY ROOM AND ROOMMATE?

The Hostel Leaflet is available among the 'Downloadable documents' to access to all practical information regarding the student dormitory and its services, rules.

 

I would like to stay in a single bed room in the dormitory, is it possible?

No, the student dormitory can only provide 2- and 3 bedded rooms or apartmans (2 neighbouring double rooms with a shared kitchen, toilet and shower).

 

HOW CAN I RENT A PRIVATE APARTMENT IN THE CITY? WHAT KIND OF DOCUMENTS WILL I NEED AND WHAT STEPS WILL I HAVE TO TAKE, WHAT IS THE OFFICIAL PROCEDURE OF RENTING A FLAT?

You will need - of course - valid personal documents and an empty accommodation reporting sheet (you can get it at IRO), nothing else. The accommodation reporting sheet has to be filled in by you and signed by the owner / owners of the flat.

After the owner(s) sign(s) the accommodation reporting sheet, you have 3 working days to visit the Immigration and Asylum Office to report your new address.

 

WHAT ARE MY ACCOMMODATION-RELATED DUTIES TOWARDS THE IMMIGRATION OFFICE?

It is compulsory to report your new address to the Immigration and Asylum office within 3 working days after the owner(s) sign(s) the accommodation reporting sheet.

 

HOW CAN I SEARCH FOR A FLAT TO RENT?

The University has a database (this one) where you can find up-to-date advertisements. You can also check Hungarian advertisement sites (e.g. Jófogás, Flatfy, Ingatlan.com...) and you can ask for your mentor's help.
